BTCC commentator David Addison joins NHR

The 2023 National Hot Rod season is set to gain increased coverage via Spedeworth TV with a new monthly show set to air from the end of March.

Fronted by ITV4’s BTCC commentator David Addison, the monthly programmes will showcase the event finals along with interviews, retro footage and features. The opening show will air at the end of March with action from Aldershot and Hednesford, with one show a month from then on. The World Championship and National weekend will receive their own special programmes with all the action filmed by Spedeworth TV.

Access to the new show, Rods Round Up, is via subscription to Spedeworth TV which already hosts race action from most Spedeworth meetings. “We wanted to make more out of National Hot Rods,” explained David Addison. “It’s a hidden gem of oval racing, a BTCC on the ovals if you like. It has been on TV before, going back to World of Sport days or on Sky Sports a decade or so ago, but largely that was just race action. We want to major on the finals at each round – which is the main race, after all – but also learn about the people involved: the drivers, the teams, the families. We’ll also be looking back at some archive races which will be a fascinating comparison with the racing of 2023.”

Fans can subscribe at www.spedeworth.tv and gain access to the channel’s comprehensive archive of race action and magazine shows.
